Patna: Govt employee booked for disproportionate assets

The special Vigilance unit of Patna raided the house of a government employee working in power department in Patna and unearthed assets highly disproportionate to his known source of income running into more than one crore rupees.

Patna (Bihar) [India], September 21 (ANI): The special Vigilance unit of Patna raided the house of a government employee working in power department in Patna and unearthed assets highly disproportionate to his known source of income running into more than one crore rupees, the agency said in a statement.
The sleuths carried out raids at the office and residential premises of the accused at the Banka, Purnia and Bhagalpur following a search warrant issued by the Ld Court of Special Judge Vigilance, Patna on September 19, as per officials.
Following this, the agency filed a case against the accused, identified as Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, working as an electrical executive engineer with Bihar South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited under sections 13(2)r/w 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
"He while working as a public servant in the Government of Bihar as Electrical Executive Engineer, Electrical Supply Division, Bihar South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd. Banka amassed huge assets illicitly and intentionally to the extent of Rs 1,03,89,713 crore (approxiamtelty) which is said to be disproportionate to his known legal sources of income and which he is unlikely to account for satisfactorily. The said properties both movable and immovable have been created in Patna (Danapur) and elsewhere," a statement from the Office of the Additional Director General of Police, SVU, Patna, said on Tuesday.
"Searches are being conducted today (September 19) at the office and residential premises of the accused at Banka, Purnia and Bhagalpur on the strength of search warrant issued by the Ld. Court of Special Judge Vigilance, Patna. Further report will follow," the statement added. (ANI)
