Passenger booked for smoking onboard IndiGo flight

Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express has completed two years of dedicated service to passengers of the region on 12th March 2026, marking a significant milestone in modern rail connectivity and passenger comfort.

The Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR), also known as the Ooty Toy Train, is an outstanding example of a hill passenger railway. Opened in 1899, it was a bold and ingenious engineering initiative to establish a rail link across a mountainous terrain of great beauty. The engineering marvel still stands as testimony to the skills of railway engineering.

According to the Indore Airport PRO, "During routine inspection, while runway recarpeting work is in progress, some loose bitumen was observed on a section of the runway surface.

The flight had taken a longer route over Africa to avoid conflict zones but made a U-turn near the Ethiopia-Eritrea border and headed back to Delhi, landing at around 2:30 PM. This resulted in a 14-hour journey that ended where it began.

According to a release published on Saturday, women pilots represent 17.5 per cent of IndiGo's total pilot workforce, which is more than thrice the global average. IndiGo, in a travel advisory, said that the airline will operate flights to five destinations in West Asia on Saturday amid the tense situation in the region.

The ministry said airlines are making necessary operational adjustments in view of prevailing conditions to ensure passenger safety and the orderly conduct of flight operations.

Indigo in a post on X mentioned a Travel Advisory which said, "Full waiver on cancellations is being extended for travel to and from the Middle East, and Istanbul, until 31 March 2026. If you are scheduled to travel, please stay updated on your flight status."
