Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], Aug 31 (ANI): The Masjid E Mustafa mosque in Hyderabad has turned a part of its premises into a community health care centre to help women and children in the neighbourhood, amid the corona pandemic.
Talking to ANI, Mohammed Fareedullah, the manager of Helping Hand Foundation, the NGO that is running the community health care centre said that during the lockdown his foundation received a request from the area seeking medical assistance.
"We had been providing essentials here during the lockdown and many people requested medical assistance. We found that many women and children in the area were in a lot of physical trouble and the government hospital is approximately eight kilometers from here. Most people here are daily wage earners and their earnings were spent on transport and medicine bills," said Fareedullah.
He added when his organisation was looking for a place to set up the clinic, they talked to the management of the mosque, which agreed to provide them with space.
He also said that the clinic is open to everybody, irrespective of religion or community
"We are providing free consultation to everyone, and every day more and more people are visiting the clinic," he added.
Abdullah, the Imam at Masjid E Mustafa told ANI that decision to convert a section of the mosque into the clinic was taken keeping the COVID-19 pandemic in mind.
"This clinic is dedicated to women and children. There is a dentist clinic for men too. Currently, people are scared of going to the hospital and here they are not sacred to come,' said the Imam.
Faheem Unnisa, who is a patient at the clinic, said that it came as a blessing to her.
"This clinic is very helpful to us. Not even taking fees from us. We are very grateful for the organisation," she said. (ANI)

In an 'X' post, TMC said the government has "ek hi naara, line mein rahe desh bechara," pointing to past governmental measures including demonetisation, the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, the Special Identification Registration (SIR), and now the LPG shortage. The party described demonetisation as a "Tughlaqi farman" that forced ordinary citizens to wait in serpentine queues outside banks and ATMs for days to access their own money. The post also highlighted the 2020 COVID-19 oxygen crisis, when families stood in long lines outside hospitals and suppliers as the public health system collapsed.
