Durga Puja Pandal

Thane (Maharashtra) [India], Oct16 (ANI): As Durga Puja is being celebrated across the nation with great fervour, Thane's Ulhasnagar has gone eco-friendly with a pandal made of peanut shells.
Following the Swachh Bharat Mission, Maa Shakti Seva Sanstha has taken an initiative to keep the environment safe by designing a grand pandal using peanut shells, cotton cloth, and 10 thousand Bamboos, in Ulhasnagar's Powai Chowk area.
Vineet Shah, president of Maa Shakti Seva Sanstha said, "Our message for the society is that we throw these shells in the dustbin and we used it to craft the pandal."
The massive 80 ft tall and 60 ft wide pandal is made by using 1.2 million peanut shells. Devotees thronged the pandal in large numbers to witness this one-of-a-kind pandal which houses an idol of Goddess Durga.
The unique Pandal, created under the guidance of Purvidas, a noted craftsman from Calcutta, took 6 months and a total of 20 craftsmen to manifest into this beautiful sight. (ANI)
