New Delhi [India], Mar 9 (ANI): India on Saturday slammed Pakistan and its Prime Minister Imran Khan for issuing statements on the internal affairs of India, adding that Pakistan should "fix their problems at home" first.
"You are well aware as to how minorities are treated in Pakistan. Whichever index you take, in terms of treatment of minorities, they (Pakistan) are always at the bottom or very close to the bottom. So for them to lecture us, as to how our minorities should be treated, I think they should rather fix their problems at home and they have plenty of problems. So let them look inwards and try to fix many of the problems which they have," Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar stated at a press briefing here.
He added that the Pakistani Prime Minister had a "penchant" for issuing statements on the internal affairs of India. "It is again a part of Pakistani narrative to take the focus elsewhere, especially when they come under pressure on the matter of counter-terrorism or taking action against terrorist groups. So they start commenting on things which have nothing to do with Pakistan," he stated.
India condemned Pakistan for playing out the same narrative with regard to counter-terrorism time and again, telling Pakistan to undertake credible, verifiable and sustained action against terrorists and terror outfits. Tensions have been high between the two neighbours following the February 14 Pulwama terror attack which claimed the lives of over 40 CRPF personnel.
Pakistan-based terror outfit, Jaish-e-Mohammed has since claimed responsibility for the attack, which has been widely condemned.
Following the attack, Pakistan has come under immense pressure to dismantle terror infrastructure on its soil and stop supporting terrorists and terror outfits after India mounted a diplomatic campaign in this regard. (ANI)
