Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], October 8 (ANI): BJP leader G Kishan Reddy on Tuesday praised the party's performance in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls, describing the elections as a "moral success" for the BJP.

"The BJP got a good amount of votes in J-K. Our success rate in Jammu region is 95 per cent. The people of Jammu made Congress zero in Jammu. Rahul Gandhi has been saying that the people have lost faith in PM Modi. Today Rahul Gandhi must have understood what the people think of PM Modi and how he serves the country. These elections are of moral success for us," Reddy said while speaking to ANI.
When asked about the possibility of the BJP forming an alliance with the National Conference in the near future, Reddy responded, "We have not decided anything yet. Our state party will make a decision on this"

Reddy also criticized regional parties in Jammu and Kashmir, including the PDP and the National Conference, stating, "These parties are dynastic. They do not consider the families of Jammu and Kashmir; they only think about their own families, which will not benefit the people of the region."
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also heaped praise for the BJP and lauded the "industrious efforts" of party workers in the Union territory.

"I am proud of the BJP's performance in Jammu and Kashmir. I thank all those who have voted for our Party and placed their trust in us. I assure the people that we will keep working for the welfare of Jammu and Kashmir. I also appreciate the industrious efforts of our Karyakartas," Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote in a post on X.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 29 seats. The Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (JKPDP) secured 3 seats, and the Jammu & Kashmir People Conference (JPC) managed to win 1 seat. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won 1 seat. Additionally, 7 Independent candidates were successful.

The Congress-National Conference alliance crossed the halfway mark, securing 49 out of 90 seats in the Assembly elections, and is set to form the government. Of these, 42 seats were won by the National Conference, 6 by the Indian National Congress, and 1 by the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

The elections, held after a decade-long gap, took place in three phases--on September 18, September 25, and October 1. This was also the first Assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, which resulted in the bifurcation of the former state into the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
