"Our aim is to do well in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, rejuvenate the party, and expose Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). We are very sure that we will do well in the Lok Sabha. We are a bridge between the seniors and the youngsters," said Rao.
Rao was felicitated by Congress Legislative party leader Siddaramaiah.
Speaking on the same, Congress leader Madhu Yashki said that he is happy with the decision and the party expects to win 25 seats out of 28 in the state in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
"He is young and experienced and Mr Rahul Gandhi has strategised how to win the coalition in 2019. We expect to win 25 out of 28 seats. We need new blood, a new leadership. We are under the leadership of Siddaramaiah and Parameshwara Ji. Dinesh Ji could get younger generation in the party," said Yashki.
KC Venugopal too expressed his happiness with the decision and said Gundu Rao will function with the support of senior leaders
"Experienced but young, they will bring young blood into the organisation. They will function will the support of the senior leaders and I think they will deliver good results for the party in coming parliament elections," said Venugopal.
Venugopal also said as a part of the coalition, the parties have different ideologies but they would settle their issues whenever they arise.
"Each party have their own ideology, we have together joined the government. It is our responsibility as well to make sure that the government stays in power for five years. Even single parties have issues, naturally, issues are there. But, whenever there will be an issue we will solve them. We will settle it," added Venugopal.
