Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], October 6 (ANI): Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan laid the foundation of a multipurpose facilitation centre for training of Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) farmers in Jharkhand on Sunday.
During the address, he also mentioned that the foundation stone for the construction of hostels was also laid.
Praising the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he told various farmers at the foundation laying ceremony that the aim of the government is to double the income of farmers.
"Under the leadership of PM Modi, BJP government has the aim to double the income of farmers, not only that, but also the quality of agriculture increases. With just farming our income would not increase, so along with farming we should be able to do multiple other work like animal rearing, bee keeping, fish rearing and such. So that is our aim under the Modi government, to increase the income of farmers, the farming costs decrease and you get fair prices for your crops," the minister added.
He further highlighted that a lot of initiatives for researching seeds and also to find work for the farmers are being done by the government.
"The output and the income would increase when we have good seeds, good plants. A lot of research is being conducted at such centres to improve the quality. Moreover, a pledge here is being taken to give training to farmers so that poverty between the farmers is reduced, and income increases," he added.
Earlier on October 2, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also announced Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan in Jharkhand will benefit the tribal people of Jharkhand "greatly" as it aims to connect the "unconnected section of tribal population' with the government schemes. This scheme was named after freedom fighter Birsa Munda.
The Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan scheme has a total outlay of over Rs 79,150 crore. (ANI)
