"Only one case registered under Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act in 2022", says NCRB

The latest National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) annual report says that only one case has been registered under Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act in the country.

New Delhi [India], December 5 (ANI): The latest National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) annual report says that only one case has been registered under Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act in the country.
The case was registered in Tamil Nadu in the year 2022.
The report titled "Crime in India 2022" is based on data collected from 36 states and Union territories as well as central agencies. It was released on Friday and made public on Sunday.
A total of 1,10,140 (21,278 males, 88,861 females and 1 transgender) victims were reported kidnapped or abducted during 2022, out of which 76,069 (13,970 males and 62,099 female) victims were children and 34,071 (7,308 males, 26,762 females and 1 transgender) victims were adult.
During 2022, a total of 1,17,083 kidnapped or abducted persons (21,199 males, 95,883 females and 1 transgender) were recovered out of which 1,16,109 persons were recovered alive and 974 persons were found dead.
Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act provide protection of the rights of transgender persons and their welfare and for matters connected therewith and incidental thereto.
A total of 83,350 children (20,380 male, 62,946 female and 24 transgender) were reported missing in 2022. The number of children missing has increased by 7.5% in 2022 from 77,535 children missing in 2021.
During the year 2022, a total of 80,561 children (20,254 male, 60,281 female and 26 transgender) were recovered/traced.
A total of 83,350 children (20,380 male, 62,946 female and 24 transgender) were reported missing in 2022. The number of children missing has increased by 7.5 percent in 2022 from 77,535 children missing in 2021.
During the year 2022, a total of 80,561 children (20,254 male, 60,281 female and 26 transgender) were recovered/traced.
Meanwhile, there has been a sharp increase in Cyber Crime Cases registered both in States as well as 19 Metro cities according to data released by the National Cime Records Bureau (NCRB), Ministry of Home Affairs.
The NCRB report shows that in States and Union Territories cybercrimes have seen a 24.4 percent increase.
"A total of 65,893 cases were registered under Cyber Crimes, showing an increase of 24.4 percent in registration over 2021 (52,974 cases). The crime rate under this category increased from 3.9 in 2021 to 4.8 in 2022. During 2022, 64.8 per cent of cyber-crime cases registered were for the motive of fraud (42,710 out of 65,893 cases) followed by Extortion with 5.5 per cent (3,648 cases) and Sexual Exploitation with 5.2 per cent (3,434 cases)" the report states.
