One killed in East Midnapore after cyclone Bulbul crosses WB coast

East Midnapore (West Bengal) [India], Nov 10 (ANI): A woman died after a tree uprooted by high-speed winds fell over their mud house in Nandigram-2 block in East Midnapore district of West Bengal on Sunday, informed Partha Ghosh, DM while speaking to ANI.
The deceased, identified as Sujata Das, died while she was sleeping with her husband and children inside the mud house,
Though Cyclonic Storm 'Bulbul' didn't hit the coastal area of East Midnapore but in some places of Nandigram-2 block some trees were uprooted and one of the trees fell on the house.
"A big tree fell on the mud house in which the woman with her two children and husband was sleeping. The husband was able to escape the tragedy and also successfully managed to rescue his two children," Swapan Kumar Mondal, a local told ANI.
The woman was rescued after one and a half hours of the incident and was rushed to hospital where she was declared brought dead.
In the morning, another woman was killed and two others sustained injuries after a tree uprooted by high-speed winds fell over their makeshift house in North 24 Parganas.
The very severe cyclonic storm Bulbul has crossed West Bengal Coast close to Sunderban Dhanchi forest from 8:30 pm to 11:30 pm on Saturday.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the storm has moved towards east-northeastwards with a speed of 17 kmph in the past six hours and further weakened into a cyclonic storm.
"It is very likely to move east-northeastwards across Bangladesh. It is likely to weaken into a deep depression over coastal Bangladesh and neighborhood during the next six hours and into a depression during the subsequent six hours," the IMD stated in its All India Weather Warning Bulletin. (ANI)
