Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], June 8 (ANI): Rajasthan Cabinet Minister Kirori Lal Meena on Sunday criticised the increasing cases of adulteration in agricultural products and warned farmers and traders against mixing harmful substances that can have severe consequences.
Speaking on the issue, Meena emphasised the detrimental effects of such practices on consumer health and the farmers themselves.
Using the analogy of "one fish making the whole pond dirty," Meena cautioned traders against engaging in such malpractices, stressing that guilty parties will face action.
The minister assured that tests are conducted on seeds and fertilisers, and samples are collected and analysed. Strict action will be taken against those found guilty.
"Among farmers, some handful are trying to mix poison, which will make us sick. Farmer's land will also become barren, and the farmer will fall into complete financial debt... I want to tell the merchant brothers that, just as one fish makes the whole pond dirty, something like this is happening in their circles also... We have not threatened anyone during the steps I took for a few days. We have also initiated the test. Traders collect samples of the seeds and fertilisers and reject them after the test. We will take action against whoever is guilty," Meena told ANI.
Meena's statement reflects the government's commitment to ensuring the quality of agricultural products and protecting both farmers and consumers from harmful practices. The initiative aims to promote transparency and accountability in the agricultural sector. (ANI)
