Om Birla inaugurates 9th C’wealth Parliamentary Conference in Udaipur

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday inaugurated the ninth India Region Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) in Rajasthan's Udaipur, said an official statement.

Udaipur (Rajasthan) [India], August 21 (ANI): Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday inaugurated the ninth India Region Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) in Rajasthan's Udaipur.
According to an official statement by the Lok Sabha Speaker's Office, Birla inaugurated the ninth India Region Conference of the CPA this morning. An Executive Committee meeting of the CPA was chaired by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla prior to the conference, it said.
The conference witnessed the participation of esteemed dignitaries, including Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Harivansh, Speaker of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly CP Joshi, MPs, MLAs of Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha, Chairperson of CPA headquarters Ian Liddell-Grainger and other dignitaries.
Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana, Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar, Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimiry, Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri and Member of Lok Sabha Uday Pratap Singh were also present at the inaugural event, said the statement.
The theme of the two-day Conference is “Strengthening Democracy and Good Governance in Digital Age”.
During the Conference, Presiding officers of State Legislatures like Chairpersons, Speakers, Deputy Chairpersons and Deputy Speakers will brainstorm on some important topics.
One of the topics is how to make public representatives more effective or efficient in encouraging good governance through digital empowerment.
The other topic is the role of public representatives in strengthening the nation through democratic institutions.
The Conference will conclude on Tuesday (August 22) with the valedictory address of Vice-President of India and Chairman of Rajya Sabha Jagdeep Dhankhar. Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra and other dignitaries will be gracing the valedictory session. (ANI)
