Odisha Parab: Showcasing timeless spirit of Odisha through art, flavour, and heritage in Guwahati

The press conference was graced by Pravati Parida, Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, along with senior government officials.

Guwahati (Assam) [India], January 29 (ANI): The Department of Tourism, Government of Odisha, in association with FICCI as an industry partner, hosted a press conference in Guwahati on Thursday to announce Odisha Parab, a three-day cultural and tourism extravaganza celebrating the State's vibrant heritage, art, cuisine, and tourism offerings.
The press conference was graced by Pravati Parida, Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, along with senior government officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Pravati Parida, Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, said, "Odisha Parab reflects our commitment to presenting Odisha beyond its cultural richness, to share our journey of progress. It is the story of a State that proudly preserves its heritage while advancing with confidence and creativity. Today, Odisha stands as a land of opportunity, grounded in strong values and driven by inclusive growth."
Odisha Parab 2026 will be held from 30 January to 1 February 2026 at Radisson Blu, Guwahati, with support from the Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department, Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Department, ORMAS, and Mission Shakti.
The event will present a vibrant showcase of Odisha's cultural and tourism landscape, from exquisite crafts and handlooms to traditional cuisine and world-class destinations, while strengthening cultural and tourism linkages between Odisha and the North-East.
Visitors to Odisha Parab will experience an immersive journey through Odisha's artistic soul at the Craft and Handloom Pavilion, featuring intricate works of silver filigree, wood and stone carving, palm-leaf engraving, brass and bell-metal applique and traditional wooden toys.
Handloom treasures such as Sambalpuri tie-and-dye sarees, tussar and silk textiles, along with creations from Boyanika, Resham Odisha and Sambalpuri Bastralaya, will also be showcased.
Artisans supported by Mission Shakti will present unique crafts, including golden grass from Jagatsinghpur, Dhokra metal craft from Dhenkanal, and Pattachitra from Puri, while ORMAS will showcase jute crafts from Puri, tribal jewellery from Nabarangpur and Koraput, and Koraput Coffee, bringing together the craftsmanship of over thirty artisans from across the State.
Adding to the celebration will be the Odia Cuisine Section, offering an elaborate culinary spread curated by leading chefs and hospitality partners, including Chapan Bhog, Dahi Bara Express, Dalma Hotel, Mio, OTDC and Subhadra Shakti Group. Visitors can savour traditional Odia delicacies such as Anna, Dalma, Mahura Ghanta, Mutton Chop, Pakudi, and other regional specialities, along with authentic sweets and pithas such as Enduri, Arisa, Handi Muan, Chenna Poda, and Rasagola.
Millet-based cookies and bakery products presented by Mio and OTDC's Nimantran Restaurant will further highlight Odisha's culinary innovation rooted in tradition.
The cultural segment of Odisha Parab will feature mesmerising performances showcasing Odisha's classical and folk traditions, including Odissi, Gotipua, Chhau, Sambalpuri and other vibrant dance forms, reflecting the timeless rhythm and spirit of Odisha's cultural heritage.
In addition, Odisha Parab will host a tourism roadshow, highlighting the State's premier destinations and products, including Eco Retreats, Bhitarkanika, Satkosia, Daringbadi, and the Diamond Triangle-Buddhist Circuit, along with other pristine destinations, reinforcing Odisha's position as a leading hub for sustainable and experiential tourism.
The event will also include interactions with hospitality stakeholders, the diaspora, and dedicated B2B and G2B meetings, creating valuable platforms for business and networking across the tourism, hospitality, and creative industries.
Among the distinguished dignitaries attending the event, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam; Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Minister of Tourism, Government of Assam; Ramendra Narayan Kalita, MLA, Guwahati West; Dr. Ravi Kota, Chief Secretary of Assam; Diganta Barah, Commissioner & Secretary, Tourism Department, Government of Assam; Mrigen Sarania, Mayor, Guwahati Municipal Corporation along with several other eminent dignitaries, are scheduled to grace Odisha Parab over the three-day programme.
