New Delhi [India], July 22 (ANI): Extending his support to the Uttar Pradesh government over its directive for food shops to display their owners' names along the Kanwar Yatra route, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Arun Govil on Monday said that he does not find anything wrong with the order.
"I don't find anything wrong in this order. Whatever has happened is right. Displaying names on the shops is not wrong. The person who is eating has the right to know from where they are eating. There is nothing wrong with it," Arun Govil told ANI.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party MP from Faizabad, Awadhesh Prasad, attacked the Uttar Pradesh government and said that this decision is to "break the unity of the country."
"If we talk about Kanwar Yatri, it has been going from long time. Either it is Hindu or Muslim everyone used to welcome them. But the decisions taken by Yogi ji is not right and is very dangerous. This decision is to break the unity of the country. Yeh desh sabka hai aur yeh baat agar log nhi samjhe toh nuksaan bhi sabka hoga. This order should be removed," Awadhesh Prasad said.
Notably, the Uttar Pradesh government has mandated all eateries along the Kanwar Yatra route to display their owners' names. Furthermore, the Haridwar Police Administration issued an order on Friday for restaurant owners to display names along the Kanwar Yatra route.
The month of Sawan is famous for the Kanwar Yatra; devotees bring Ganga Jal and offer it to Lord Shiva on the day of Shivratri. Savan Shivratri falls in the month of July or August every year.
Lord Shiva is worshipped all over the country during the auspicious month of Sawan. Sawan Shivratri is celebrated with much fervour and enthusiasm in North Indian states like Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Bihar. Temples across North India perform puja and shiva darshan during the month. (ANI)
