Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 17 (ANI): After her meeting with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi, expelled Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Pooja Pal on Sunday stated that she wanted to work for the welfare of the people, further stating that her meeting with the CM was as an MLA.
"I just met CM Yogi Adityanath as an MLA... I am not sure of what I will do next, but I want to work for my people..." Pal told ANI.
Further making justification to her statement, Pal stated that it mattered on who held the seat of the CM and whether they wanted to work on giving the seat a "clean administration" or just doing politics.
Applauding the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister for his zero-tolerance policy against crime, Pal stated that Adityanath had taken a brave decision.
"During this government, even when a common man is murdered, the murderer, a son of the mafia, was encountered, as part of a brave decision by the Chief Minister... It matters who is sitting in the CM's chair, the one who decreases crime, or promotes it... Do they want to give the state a clean administration or just do politics..." she stated.
The expelled MLA further stated her grief over the silence of the people over the murder of her husband Raju Pal, who was shot dead by Atiq Ahmed.
"I have thanked the CM many times... He has the power to run the administration and the government. But I got expelled for naming Atiq Ahmed in the Assembly... How can I not talk about a person who destroyed my entire life? During previous governments, an MLA was killed, his body was disappeared and his wife and mother searched for it everywhere but could not even see him for one last time. Even the public cried to show the body of Raju Pal, but they were beaten up and gunned down, and the murderers were not brought to justice after 17-18 years," she further stated.
A day earlier, Pal had met CM Adityanath at his official residence.
The meeting comes after Pal was expelled from the Samajwadi Party by Chief Akhilesh Yadav for praising CM Yogi Adityanath during the UP Assembly session.
Samajwadi Party expelled her from the party, citing anti-party activities and indiscipline.
"You have carried out anti-party activities, and even after being warned, you did not stop these activities, due to which the party has suffered a lot. The work done by you is anti-party and a serious act of indiscipline. Hence, you are expelled from Samajwadi Party with immediate effect," read the letter of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav addressed to Pooja Pal. (ANI)
