Kochi (Kerala) [India], Nov 27 (ANI): The Kerala High Court on Tuesday directed that no protests should be held at Sabarimala temple complex, Sannidhanam.
The high court also ruled out a police order which sought directions to stop the practice of 'Namajapan' (chanting God's name repeatedly) there.
This comes days after protests broke out in the temple complex as a group of protestors staged a 'Namajapan' on November 25.
The high court also allowed the police to conduct inspections for the purpose of identifying protestors. The court, however, directed the police to be 'gentle' during inspections and ensure food and water is available round the clock.
The high court also appointed three observers-- Retired Justice S. Sirijagan, P. R. Raman and senior IPS officer A. Hemachandran in Sabarimala to assess the situation.
The Advocate General handed a sealed cover to the high court containing plans for conducting safe pilgrimage for women of the restricted age group to the Lord Ayappa shrine.
No woman aged 10-50 has so far been allowed inside the temple despite the Supreme Court's September 28 ruling that lifted the age-old restrictions that prevented women of menstruating ages to enter the hill-top temple.
A string of protests have been witnessed in Kerala since October when the temple opened for the first time after the apex court's verdict. (ANI)
