Rupnagar (Punjab) [India], May 14 (ANI): Taking a jibe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that no one takes Wayanad MP and his statement seriously.
"Neither anyone from the Congress party nor outside the Congress party, or in the country, takes Rahul Gandhi and his statements seriously. He flew from Wayanad and came to Raebareli. Now we will see where he will go from Raebareli," Shekhawat said.
The Congress, on May 3, announced Rahul as a candidate from Raebareli. The voting of Raebareli will be held on May 20 in the fifth phase.
Shekhawat's statement came during his visit to Rupnagar, where he accompanied BJP candidate Subhash Sharma in filing his nomination from the Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha seat.

After filing his nomination, BJP leader Subhash Sharma expressed confidence in the support from the farming community, stating, "The farmers are supporting us. Wherever I am going, they are not only listening and understanding my words but also providing their support and blessings wholeheartedly."

Grateful for Shekhawat's support, Sharma articulated his belief in the strong wave of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership within Punjab, echoing the sentiments resonating across the country.
"I have filed my nomination. I am grateful to Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who came here to support me. I have full faith that the wave of Modi ji is strong within Punjab, just as it is in the country, and this time history is going to be made in Punjab as the people have made up their minds to make the BJP win the elections," Shekhawat said.
In Punjab, voting for its 13 seats will take place in a single phase.
The seventh and final phase on June 1 will see voting in Gurudaspur, Amritsar, Khadoor Sahib, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Nandpur Sahib, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Firozpur, Bathinda, Sangrur, and Patiala constituencies.
In the previous Lok Sabha Elections of 2019, the INC-led UPA alliance secured eight seats with a vote share of 40.6 per cent, while the NDA managed to secure four with a voting percentage of 9.7. The AAP, making its debut, secured one seat.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and AAP bagged 4 seats each while Congress secured 3 seats. The BJP managed to secure only two seats.
The counting of votes will be held on June 4. (ANI)
