No govt. can survive without farmers: former PM Gowda

New Delhi (India), Nov 29 (ANI) : Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) JDS chief HD Deve Gowda who joined the farmers' protest at Ramlila Maidan in the national capital on Thursday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should personally take note of farmer's plight.
"Prime Minister should personally take note of this. I would like to appeal to Union government to try and solve the farmer's problem," said former Prime Minister.
He underscored that no government can survive without farmers.
"Farmers are awakened now. They know how to punish. No government can survive without farmers," said HD Deve Gowda.
Earlier in the day farmers from various states all across India gathered at different locations like Bijwasan, Sarai Kale Khan, Anand Vihar Terminal, Majnu-Ka-Tila and marched towards the Ramlila Maidan in the national capital.
More than one lakh farmers, belonging to 200 farmers organizations gathered in the national Capital to push for their demands including implementation of the MS Swaminathan Committee report, farm loan waiver and better Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their agricultural produce.
The rally has been organised by the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) against the ongoing rural distress.
Meanwhile, farmer's movement across Delhi caused major traffic disruption. Reportedly, over 3,500 police personnel will be deployed on November 30 in wake of farmers' march from Ramlila Maidan to Parliament Street.(ANI)
