New Delhi [India], September 18 (ANI): Rajya Sabha MP Manan Kumar Mishra on Thursday criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his recent allegations of vote theft, and said he has no evidence, which is why he is making allegations against the Election Commission.
Mishra said the public knows there is no proof.
Speaking to ANI, Manan Kumar Mishra said, "The result of the whole press conference was nothing...There is no evidence. Rahul Gandhi always talks nonsense...Public will not be affected by this...There is no evidence of how the software was manipulated..."
"He is placing oral allegations...There is no importance of that in the eyes of the law...The public knows he has no evidence, that is why he is putting allegations on a constitutional body like the Election Commission," he said.
Earlier in the day, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi slammed the Election Commission of India for allegedly "not cooperating" with the voter fraud investigation opened up by the Karnataka Crime Investigation Department (Karnataka CID) in the Aland assembly segment in the Kalaburagi district.
The leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha has claimed that the investigation into the alleged fraud has been stalled for over 2 years as the poll body is not replying to the letters sent by the CID, calling it "proof" that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is "protecting vote chors (vote thieves).
Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India dismissed all allegations made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding "vote chori", mentioning that no voter's name can be deleted by a member of the public through online.
"Allegations made by Rahul Gandhi are incorrect and baseless. No deletion of any vote can be done online by any member of the public, as misconceived by Rahul Gandhi. No deletion can take place without giving an opportunity to be heard to the affected person," the ECI said in a statement.
The ECI also said that allegations made by Rahul Gandhi against CEC Gyanesh Kumar are baseless and incorrect. (ANI)
