Patna (Bihar) [India], September 7 (ANI): Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) president Mukesh Sahni said that talks on seat-sharing within the Mahagathbandhan alliance for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections are going smoothly.
Sahni added that there is no dispute over seats and the party will contest under the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav.
Speaking to the reporters on Saturday, Mukesh Sahni said, "...we are discussing every seat...our discussions are going very smoothly...we have to contest the elections under the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav...(in the Mahagathbandhan) there is no dispute regarding the seats..."
A day earlier, launching a scathing attack on RJD and Congress, Union Minister Giriraj Singh asserted that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is not backing RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav's name for the post of Chief Minister here in Bihar.
Speaking to ANI, Union Minister said, "Rahul Gandhi, who himself is a 'Pappu', made Tejashwi Yadav a 'Super Pappu'. Lalu Yadav's dream of making his son the Chief Minister has been shattered by Rahul Gandhi. Tejashwi Yadav is hell bent on making Rahul Gandhi Prime Minister by doing chamchagiri, but Rahul Gandhi did not even name him once (for the CM position)."
Bihar elections are expected to be held in October or November; however, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not announced an official date.
While the NDA, comprising the BJP, JD(U), and LJP, aims to continue its tenure in Bihar, the INDIA bloc, comprising the RJD, Congress, and left parties, seeks to oust Nitish Kumar.
In the current Bihar Assembly of 243 members, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) consists of 131, with the BJP having 80 MLAs, JD(U)-45, HAM(S)-4, with the support of 2 Independent Candidates.
The Opposition's INDIA Bloc comprises 111 members, with the RJD leading with 77 MLAs, followed by Congress with 19, CPI(ML) with 11, CPI(M) with 2, and CPI with 2. (ANI)
