New Delhi [India], July 21 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday said that the No-Confidence Motion in the Lok Sabha was a case of "majority versus morality".
"After 15 years, No-Confidence Motion was moved by the opposition parties. We knew they have majority; the motion was majority versus morality," he said at a press conference here.
Following the victory of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government in Friday's trust vote, Naidu had said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) betrayed the state of Andhra Pradesh, yet again.
In addition, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP Jayadev Galla had claimed that Prime Minister Modi was siding with the TDP's rivals to weaken Andhra Pradesh.
Prime Minister Modi-led NDA Government sailed through its first floor test in Lok Sabha by defeating the No-Confidence Motion moved by the TDP.
The government had a comfortable majority of 325 votes, while the Opposition secured 126 votes out of a total of 451 Members of Parliament present in the Lok Sabha.
The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) members had staged a walk-out, while NDA ally Shiv Sena abstained from voting.
The NDA's massive victory came after an 11-hour debate, followed by a 90-minute reply by the Prime Minister, during which he listed out the achievements of his government and underlined the failures of the Congress and its allies during their previous terms.
This was also the first major show of unity of the opposition parties that are planning to come together for the `Grand Alliance` to fight the BJP in the 2019 general elections. (ANI)
