NIA files charge sheet in 2018 Jalandhar grenade attack

Jalandhar (Punjab) [India], May 6 (ANI): National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday filed a charge sheet in a case pertaining to the explosion of four hand grenades in the premises of a police station here in September last year.

Jalandhar (Punjab) [India], May 6 (ANI): National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday filed a charge sheet in a case pertaining to the explosion of four hand grenades in the premises of a police station here in September last year.
In the attack, one police personnel had received splinter injuries in his chest.
NIA had earlier arrested accused Fazil Bashir Pinchoo and Shahid Quyoom in relation to the case whereas three other accused namely Rouf Ahmed Mir, Ummer Ramzan, and Rasik Ahmed Mir were killed during an encounter that took place between Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH) cadres and security forces on December 22, 2018.
The investigation also revealed that the attack was carried out at the police station in furtherance of a conspiracy to destabilise the law and order situation in Punjab and to wage war against India.
NIA asserted that the conspiracy was hatched by AGH, led by its self-styled chief Zakir Rashid Bhat alias Zakir Musa to target security installations throughout the country.
The charge sheet has been filed in the Special NIA Court, Mohali, against Fazil Bashir Pinchoo and Sahid Quyoom under sections 120B, 121, 121A, 122, 307 of IPC, section 16, 18, 20, 23 of UAPA and Section 3 of Explosive Substances Act. (ANI)
