New Delhi [India], August 19 (ANI): The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) announced the successful completion of the fifth river bridge on the MAHSR corridor, situated over the Auranga River in the Valsad district of Gujarat.
The NHSRCL is constructing the Ahmedabad-Mumbai High-Speed Rail Corridor.
According to NHSRCL, the construction of the bridge on the Auranga River in Valsad district was completed. This is the fifth river bridge completed till date for the MAHSR corridor.
The construction work of the bridge on Par, Purna, Mindhola and Ambika rivers has already been completed.
There are a total of 24 river bridges on MAHSR corridor of which 20 are in Gujarat and the remaining are in Maharashtra.
“This latest accomplishment showcases the project's steady progress, solidifying its reputation as a groundbreaking infrastructure initiative. The newly finished Auranga River bridge spans an impressive 320 meters, a testament to modern engineering ingenuity,” it said.
Comprising eight full-span girders, each measuring 40 meters, the bridge's design seamlessly marries aesthetics with functionality.
The bridge's supporting piers, ranging in height from 20 to 26 meters, further emphasize the intricacies of its construction. Notably, circular piers with diameters of 5 meters (7 in total) and 5.5 meters (2 in total) contribute to both the structural integrity and visual appeal of the bridge. Strategically positioned between the Vapi and Bilimora High-Speed Rail (HSR) stations, the Auranga River bridge is poised to play a pivotal role in the corridor's connectivity.
The successful completion of this bridge follows the construction of bridges across the Par, Purna, Mindhola, and Ambika Rivers, exemplifying NHSRCL's dedication to realizing this ambitious project.
A total of 24 river bridges are slated for the MAHSR corridor, spanning across Gujarat and Maharashtra. Among them, 20 bridges are located in Gujarat, while the remaining four are in Maharashtra.
Notably, among these is the ongoing construction of a 1.2-kilometre-long bridge over the Narmada River in Gujarat, and a forthcoming 2.28-kilometre-long bridge spanning the Vaitarna River in Maharashtra.
As the MAHSR corridor continues to expand its network of impressive river bridges, it is poised to reshape the landscape of transportation in India, ushering in an era of high-speed rail connectivity that will redefine travel between these two major cities. (ANI)
