NHSRCL completes 100pc land acquisition in Gujarat for Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor project

The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has completed the 100 per cent land acquisition in Gujarat for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project.

New Delhi [India], October 9 (ANI): The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has completed the 100 per cent land acquisition in Gujarat for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project.
The NHSRCL, in a release on Monday, said that the last parcel of land in Gujarat was acquired at Kathore village of Surat district (4.99 Ha) in the month of September.
In all, 951.14 hectares of land needed to be acquired in eight districts of Gujarat for the project while the total land required for the project was 1389.49 hectares.
The maximum land acquired was in Surat (160.51 hectares), Vadodara (140.3 hectares), Bharuch (140 hectares) and Ahmedabad (133.29 hectares).
With the latest acquisition, 99.95 per cent of land has been acquired for the project across Gujarat, Maharashtra and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, the release said.
As per the corporation, out of 429.71 hectares acquired for the project in neighbouring Maharashtra, 99.83 per cent of the process has been completed, while a total of 7.90 hectares were acquired in the UT.
It further said that the operational control centre will be located at Sabarmati in Ahmedabad, and there will be three depots, two in Gujarat and one in Maharashtra at Thane.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his then-Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe launched the project in Ahmedabad on September 14, 2017.
National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) was incorporated on February 12, 2016 under the Companies Act, 2013 with the object of financing, constructing, maintaining and managing the High-Speed Rail Corridor in India.
The Company has been modelled as a 'Special Purpose Vehicle' in the joint sector with equity participation by the Central Government through the Ministry of Railways and two State Governments viz. Government of Gujarat and Government of Maharashtra. (ANI)
