Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], September 10 (ANI): As President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to inaugurate the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) project of the Gujarat Assembly next week, state Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Sunday said that this is for the convenience of the people and solving their problems expeditiously.
President Murmu will visit Gujarat on September 12 to inaugurate the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) project at the state Assembly, the state Information Department said on Sunday.
Taking note of this, Gujarat CM said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi always insists on using technology as much as possible.
"It has twofold benefits, things get done systematically and with accuracy... Our Vidhan Sabha is also going to become E-Vidhan Sabha. President Droupadi Murmu will lay the foundation stone for it. The whole system is going to be paperless. We have also made 'E-Sarkar'. We are using technology as much as possible... This is for the convenience of the people and for solving their problems faster," he said.
National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) is one of the 44 Mission Mode Projects (MMPs) under the “Digital India Programme” of the Government of India which aims to make the functioning of all the State Legislatures paperless by transforming them into ‘Digital House’.
Inspired by PM Modi's visionary concept of 'One Nation, One Application,' NeVA is a significant step towards making the Assembly proceedings entirely paperless.
Till now, 21 State legislatures have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the implementation of the NeVA and the project has been sanctioned for 17 Legislatures and funds have been released to them for implementation of the project.
Among them, 9 Legislatures have already become fully digital and are live on the NeVA platform. They are conducting all their business end to end in a digital and paperless manner.
Earlier on Friday, Gujarat Legislative Assembly Speaker Shankar Bhai Chaudhary wrote to President Murmu requesting her to visit the state and inaugurate the project.
In the letter to President Murmu written on Friday, Chaudhuray has also invited her to address the House at the Gujarat Legislative Assembly either on September 12 or 13- as per her convenience.
“As ensuing 3rd session of the 15th Gujarat Legislative Assembly is commencing from September 13. I am honoured to invite your excellency to inaugurate the project "National e-Vidhan Application" (NeVA), implemented on the concept of "One Nation, One Application" of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra ModiJi, and to address the august House at the Gujarat Legislative Assembly on 12.09.2023-Tuesday or 13.09.2023- Wednesday as per your Excellency’s convenience,” the Gujarat Speaker said.
He further said that Murmu’s presence will inspire and strengthen the everlasting spirit of pro-people good governance.
As per the Parliamentary Affairs Ministry, the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) is a Unicode-compliant software developed to make all legislative body work and data available online for usage by both citizens and Assembly members. NeVA also includes a website and a mobile app.
This software allows for simple access to many documents such as the list of questions, list of businesses, and reports, among others.
NeVA also embodies the concept of 'One Nation, One Application' with the objective of Cloud First and Mobile First to serve Members FIRST.
