Supaul (Bihar) [India], November 9 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain on Sunday expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will secure a sweeping victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, claiming the contest appears "one-sided".
Speaking to ANI, Hussain said, "The people of Bihar are enthusiastic about this election. The NDA is set to win with a full majority, as the contest appears one-sided."
The BJP leader also hit out at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for his recent remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "Who is Rahul Gandhi to question Prime Minister Modi and make such derogatory remarks about him?" Hussain asked.
Drawing a sharp contrast between the two leaders, Hussain added, "Unlike Rahul Gandhi, who engages in divisive politics, Prime Minister Modi has focused on inclusive growth and the development of all communities."
Earlier today, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of "stealing votes" while urging the youth of Bihar to remain "vigilant" during polling.
Speaking to reporters, Rahul Gandhi said, "I'm not giving up. I'm saying it clearly that Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar are stealing votes. Their full efforts are underway. I'm telling the youth of Bihar, I'm telling the Gen Z of Bihar, it's your responsibility to be vigilant at the polling booth and not let this happen. They're trying to steal your future, that's why they're stealing votes."
Meanwhile, on Thursday, the first phase of the assembly elections in Bihar concluded peacefully with a record voter turnout of 65.08 per cent, the highest-ever in the state's history in assembly polls.
The voting was held on 121 seats spread across 18 districts, and a total of 3.75 crore voters were eligible to exercise their franchise in the first phase of polls. The second phase of assembly polls will be held on November 11, and the votes will be counted on November 14. (ANI)
