NCB Guwahati seizes over 934 kg of Ganja, apprehends one person in major drug bust

The apprehended person was identified as Surjit Singh of Kheri in Uttar Pradesh.

Guwahati (Assam) [India], August 3 (ANI): The sleuths of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Guwahati Zonal unit cracked down on an inter-state drug trafficking racket, seized 934.510 kg of Ganja and apprehended a person.
The apprehended person was identified as Surjit Singh of Kheri in Uttar Pradesh.
According to the Zonal Director of NCB, Guwahati, acting on special intelligence and continuous surveillance for several days, the Narcotics Control Bureau, Guwahati Zonal Unit, successfully identified and cracked upon one inter-state syndicate/network involved in the trafficking of Ganja from Senapati (Manipur) to Kolkata (West Bengal).
"Accordingly, NCB, Guwahati Zonal Unit apprehended one person near Roadside Dhaba and Restaurant, Barpalaha, Mangaldoi Road in Assam's Kamrup district on the evening of August 2 while he was proceeding towards Kolkata (West Bengal) in a truck. On search, the NCB Guwahati team recovered and seized 934.510 kg of Ganja from his possession," the Zonal Director of NCB, Guwahati, said in a press statement.
The Zonal Director of NCB Guwahati further said that the seized Ganja was packed in plastic packets and concealed in a specially made cavity on the truck.
"The source of the contraband was traced to Senapati (Manipur) and the destination was West Bengal," the press statement added.
Earlier, in a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Guwahati Zonal Unit seized 6.790 kg of drugs and apprehended two individuals on July 23.
The operation followed several days of continuous surveillance based on special intelligence.
The NCB identified and dismantled an inter-state syndicate involved in the trafficking of Methamphetamine from Churachandpur in Manipur to Shillong in Meghalaya.
"NCB, Guwahati Zonal Unit apprehended two persons at ISBT By Pass, Sonari Road, Silchar (Assam) on the evening of July 23 while they were proceeding towards Shillong (Meghalaya) in a car. On search, NCB Guwahati team recovered and seized 6.790 kg of Methamphetamine from their possessions," the Zonal Director of NCB, Guwahati said in a press statement.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as Gouzalal Singson from Churachandpur, Manipur, and Thangminlun Lhungdim from Sangaikot, Manipur.
"The source of the contraband was traced to Churachandpur (Manipur) and the destination was Shillong (Meghalaya)," said NCB, in a press statement. (ANI)
