Naval Science and Technological Laboratory celebrates 55th Lab Raising Day

New Delhi [India], August 20 (ANI): Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) celebrated its 55th Lab Raising Day on Tuesday in presence of senior naval officer with great zeal and enthusiasm.
Established on 20 Aug 1969 with 10 staff members, NSTL has grown multifold with 603 personnel including 186 Scientists and has made significant contributions to defence R&D and is recognized as one of the premiere labs of Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) engaged in the development of underwater weapons and systems.
NSTL is committed to strengthen Indian defence sector by developing and delivering cutting-edge and futuristic technologies.
In his speech, Chief Guest Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar congratulated the Team NSTL on completing 55 years of journey towards empowering nation and said that not only Indian Navy but also entire nation is having lot of hopes on NSTL.
He said that the responsibility of NSTL has increased by having its products in the list of positive indigenous list. NSTL is closely coordinating Indian Navy for timely completion of projects and Indian Navy is eagerly waiting for the forthcoming projects.
Pendharkar added that NSTL has become a reliable partner of Indian Navy with hard work, dedication and tireless efforts.
On this occasion, staff who completed 25 years of service were felicitated. Best Library User Appreciations were also distributed.
On this occasion, Captain AVSN Murty was presented prestigious Letter of Appreciation by Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee(CISC), for his commendable work on naval infrared stealth.
On 5 June 2023, Combat Trials of Varunastra Torpedo was successfully conducted by deploying Underwater Target Structure(UWTS), which was successfully designed and developed by NSTL along with Industry Partner Trini Tech Infrastructure India Pvt. Ltd., Visakhapatnam.
This technology is being transferred to industry partner through a licensing agreement on this auspicious occasion.
In his address, Dr Abraham Varughese, Outstanding Scientist and Director NSTL said, "NSTL is putting its best efforts as per the requirements of Indian Navy, with the existing world-class test facilities. He briefed the genesis of NSTL and evolution to the present stage of being state-of-the-art premier naval research laboratory in the country." (ANI)
