Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], June 1 (ANI): Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat expressed confidence that the nation would choose Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister for the third time as the exit poll results are out after the voting for the Lok Sabha elections ended on Saturday.
"Even before the election process started, we were confident that the nation would choose Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister (for third term) and the government of the BJP will be formed with a strong majority...BJP will secure a hattrick (on June 4, the poll counting day)...," Shekhawat told reporters here.
Shekhawat added: "The public themselves gave the BJP leaders the slogan of 'Abki Baar 400 Paar'".
Replying to a query, Shekhawat said, "Eight-ten days ago, when polling was going to be held for the fifth phase, a narrative had come about what would happen on June 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6. Everything was answered. It was decided that exit polls would come out, then counting would take place, then allegations of EVM tempering would surface, then they (INDI alliance) would blame the public of the country and on the next day they will go abroad for vacation".
The Lok Sabha elections were held across seven phases, running from April 19-June 1. The counting and results will be declared on June 4.
The seventh and the final phase of polling for Lok Sabha elections across seven states and the Union territory of Chandigarh saw a voter turnout of 58.3 per cent till 5 pm, the Election Commission (ECI) said.
Earlier, as the 7th Phase of polling in General Elections 2024 wrapped up, the Election Commission of India thanked all stakeholders: voters, polling personnel, security forces, media, and political parties.
Polling for the earlier six phases of Lok Sabha elections was held on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, and May 25. (ANI)
