Guntur (Andhra Pradesh)[India], Mar 24 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Information Technology (IT) Minister Nara Lokesh offered prayers at a church here on Sunday.
As a part of his campaign, Lokesh, the son of Andhra Pradesh Chie Minister N Chandrababu Naidu participated in special prayers at the Pentecost Mission Church, Revendrapadu, Duggirala Mandal.
After offering the prayer, he started his election campaign. He visited Revendrapadu, Srungarapuram, Perukalapudi, Chukkapallivari palem, Tadiboyinavari Palem, Emani, Chintalapudi and other villages in Mangala Giri constituency.
Nara Lokesh on Friday filed nomination to contest from Mangalagiri constituency in Amaravati for ensuing Assembly poll, while his father N Chandrababu Naidu is going to contest from Kuppam seat in Chittoor district for the seventh consecutive time.
Naidu’s TDP supported the BJP-led government after 2014 Lok Sabha elections but withdrew the support in March last year over the issue of special status to Andhra Pradesh.
In 2014 assembly elections, Naidu-led TDP won 103 seats and YSR Congress Party bagged 67 seats. BJP had won only four seats and the Congress could not get even a single seat.
The election to the 175-member Andhra Pradesh Assembly is scheduled to be held on April 11 simultaneously with the Lok Sabha poll. The counting of votes will take place on May 23. (ANI)
