'Naamdaar' supporting Cong leaders hurling abuses at me: PM Modi

Vidisha (Madhya Pradesh) [India], Nov 25 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday attacked the Congress and its party president Rahul Gandhi for dragging his mother and father into an election debate, and said that while Congress leaders are hurling abuses at him, the party's "naamdaar" (dynast) is supporting them.
Addressing a rally in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha district, the Prime Minister said, "We never make any personal attacks on anyone's family. We criticized the posts they held. But why are the Congress leaders making personal attacks on my mother and father? The abuse on my mother didn't help. So the Congress party dragged my father into it, who left this world 30 years ago."
Prime Minister Modi's reactions came after a video went viral purportedly showing senior Congress leader Vilasrao Muttemwar, saying that while everybody knows Rahul Gandhi's ancestors, no one is aware who Prime Minister Modi's father is.
Muttemwar's comment comes just three days after Raj Babbar, the Congress' Uttar Pradesh unit chief, compared the depreciation of the Indian rupee to the age of Prime Minister Modi's mother.
Repeatedly attacking the Congress chief during his public address, the Prime Minister said the party was dragging the elections to a new low as they were unable to talk about development and other related issues.
Underscoring the bond between Vidisha and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Prime Minister said, "Public's confidence in the BJP is increasing and the camp of the Congress party is getting cold. The Congress has never fought an election on the basis of development and does not even dare to speak about development. Compare 55 years of Congress' misrule versus 15 years of good governance in Madhya Pradesh under Shivraj Singh Chouhan ji's leadership. The difference is for everyone to see."
The Prime Minister said that the Congress was resorting to "jatiwaad ka zeher (the poison of caste)" since they had nothing to compare their achievements to that of the BJP government. Coming down heavily on the Congress, the Prime Minister also accused the grand old party of destroying democracy with its dynasty politics. "Four generations of Congress 'naamdaars' and four years of a 'chaiwallah.' Come on, let's compete," he asserted.
Praising the work done by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government in the state, he said, "We brought the most comprehensive crop insurance scheme. Farmers are immensely benefiting from it. In Karnataka, Congress promised loan waiver for farmers. But what happened? Farmers are in distress. Warrants are being issued in the name of farmers. How can anyone even expect them to think about the welfare of farmers in Madhya Pradesh?"
The state of Madhya Pradesh will go to polls to elect legislators for its 230 constituencies on November 28. Results will be declared on December 11. (ANI)
