New Delhi [India], June 7 (ANI): As the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and its allies the BJP and the Jana Sena are gearing up to form the government in Andhra Pradesh after registering a landslide victory in the state assembly elections, party leader K Ravindra Kumar said on Friday that the reservation provided to the Muslims will continue in the state.
"We will continue that. There is no problem at all," Kumar told ANI on Friday.
Earlier, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu also asserted to preserve the Muslim quota reservation in the state contrasting the BJP's assertion to not provide reservation based on religion.
A meeting of the TDP MPs was held in former TDP MP Jayadev Galla's residence in Delhi earlier in the day. Meanwhile, a key meeting of the newly elected MPs of the NDA was held on Friday at the central hall of the Parliament.
When asked if the party will put forth its demands at the meeting, TDP leader Kumar said, "Today is not the stage to discuss the demands but we are a part of the NDA. The question of demand doesn't arise. It is a pre-poll alliance. We used to take the assistance of the Centre whenever required. We used to take the schemes of the Centre and also Centre-State sharing seats and also AP Reorganisation Act."
"So many things are there, it is an ongoing process. First priority is that Andhra Pradesh has to be reconstructed since it has gone back by 25 years," he added.
Earlier this week, leaders of parties in the NDA elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi as their leader during a meeting of the alliance in Delhi. According to sources, Narendra Modi is likely to take oath as the Prime Minister for the third consecutive time on June 9. (ANI)
