New Delhi (India), June 21 (ANI): A Muslim man was allegedly attacked by three-car borne people in the city-state's Rohini area after he refused to say -- Jai Shri Ram.
The victim has been identified as Mohammad Momin.
According to police, the incident took place at about 8 pm when Momin was going somewhere. A white car stopped on the road and its occupants called him.
"In his complaint, he said that he thought that they are calling him for asking the direction. When he went there, three men inside the car asked him to read some religious lines. He, however, ignored and moved on after which they hit him," said SD Mishra, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Rohini district.
Momin said: "The people sitting inside the car asked me to say -- Jai Shri Ram -- but I avoided them. They then verbally abused me and hit me with their car, which injured me."
"We are examining the CCTV footages and are also gathering information from the eye-witnesses," said the police officer. (ANI)
