Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Apr 27 (ANI): Music has the power to overcome the tribulations of war and terrorism and sends the message of oneness, says Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Apr 27 (ANI): Music has the power to overcome the tribulations of war and terrorism and sends the message of oneness, says Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu.
Vice President  Naidu, who was speaking at 'CHIRAGH' concert of the South Asian Symphony Orchestra at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) here yesterday, said: “Music speaks a universal language. It transcends geographical boundaries and unites people."
"We, in India, have always maintained that musical gatherings are an effective form of yoga or spiritual discipline,” he said.
Commending the extraordinary role played by Dr Ahmad Sarmast in training young children from war-torn Afghanistan, Naidu said: “This orchestra has some children from Kabul in Afghanistan who are profiles of courage."
"All of them are dedicated to their music and communicating through their art with the outside world, bringing fame and respect for their ancient country, overcoming the tribulations of war and terrorism and symbolizing the best of the human spirit.”
The Vice President also paid tribute to the victims who lost their lives in the dastardly terrorist attack in Colombo, Sri Lanka by observing silence in their memory.
The gathering consisted of among others Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao, founders of CHIRAGH, Nirupama and Sudhakar Rao and a host of musicians from countries like Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. (ANI)
