Mumbai Weather: City expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall today

Mumbai City and its suburbs are expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall on Friday, with the possibility of very heavy rainfall at isolated places, as per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Mumbai (Maharastra) [India], July 26 (ANI): Mumbai City and its suburbs are expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall on Friday, with the possibility of very heavy rainfall at isolated places, as per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
There is also a possibility of occasional gusty winds reaching 50-60 kmph today. The high tide at 3:32 pm is expected to reach 4.46 metres, whereas the low tide at 9:44 pm is expected to reach 0.98 metres.
Currently, the city has been experiencing little to no rainfall; however, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert with expectations of moderate to heavy rainfall in Mumbai along with Thane Palghar and Sindhudurg districts.
The IMD had also issued a red alert with the expectation of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Raigad and Ratnagiri districts.
In the last 24 hours, the average rainfall in Mumbai City was recorded at 81 mm, followed by Western Suburbs at 92 mm and Eastern Suburbs at 80 mm.
According to the BMC, As per rainfall recorded, the highest rainfall from 25 July 2024, 8 am to 26 July 2024 8 am (24 hours) is as follows: -Nariyal Wadi Municipal School, Vakola - 142.2, Sewri Koliwada Municipal School, Sewri - 137.6 -'N' Ward Office, Ghatkopar - 133.34, Charkop Sector 1 Municipal School Kandivali (West) - 131.8, Magathane Bus Depot, Borivali - 129.2, Eksar Municipal School, Borivali - 128.2, Barve Nagar Municipal School, Ghatkopar (West) - 125.2, BKC Fire Station - 124, Nadkarni Park Municipal School, Wadala (East) - 119.40, SWD Workshop, Dadar - 119.34, Maravli Municipal school, Chembur - 118.60, N. M. Joshi Marg Municipal School, Lower Parel - 117.
Earlier, in its advisory the BMC had said "The weather and rainfall in Mumbai are normal at present, allowing life in the metropolitan city to proceed smoothly. As a result, all schools and colleges in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) area will remain open on Friday, July 26. Parents are humbly requested not to believe any other information or rumours regarding school and college holidays and to rely only on official information from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. The civic administration urges citizens to stay in touch with the management of the concerned schools and colleges for more information. (ANI)
