Mumbai court sends 3 to police custody for raping 19-year-old

The application has been filed by the daughter of the deceased, who is also the Unnao rape survivor. She has sought enhancement of the 10-year sentence awarded to Sengar and other convicts.

The order was passed by Principal District and Sessions Judge (North-East), Karkardooma Courts, Sanjay Sharma, who upheld the trial court's decision rejecting the woman's application for interim maintenance. The court found no illegality in the earlier order and declined to interfere with it.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Saturday acquitted rape convict and Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in the journalist Ramchandra Chhatrapati's murder case, the self-styled godman's lawyer confirmed.

Following the attack, two victims succumbed to severe injuries on the spot, while six others were rushed to nearby government and private hospitals, respectively, for treatment. Hospital authorities stated that a few of the injured are in critical condition and are under close medical observation.

Prajwal Revanna, son of JD(S) MLA H D Revanna, was jailed in connection with rape charges. Uday alleged that the case stemmed from internal family rivalry and political conspiracy within the JD(S). Claiming a political vendetta, Uday said the former MP was targeted after Kumaraswamy's son, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, lost the elections.
