Mumbai: 400 workers, four cranes deployed to dismantle 150-year-old Carnac ROB

27-hour long mega block was conducted by the Central Railway for the dismantling of the 150-year old bridge.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 20 (ANI): Four big cranes and around 4,00 manual resources have been deployed in the dismantling process of the Carnac Road Over Bridge, Mumbai.
A 27-hour-long mega block was imposed by the Central Railway on the line for the dismantling of the 150-year-old bridge. The 150-year-old bridge is located between the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Masjid Bunder on the suburban line in Mumbai.
"We are working according to the targeted time. We had started our work around 11 pm. We are trying our level best to start the main line traffic from 4 pm this evening and we will also try to resume urban line traffic around 8 pm in the evening," Shivaji Sutra, CPRO, Central Railways.
"The dismantling process of the bridge is going on according to the plan and will follow the set timeline, keeping mega block in view. Four big cranes, three of 350 tonnes capacity each and one of 500 tonnes deployed, 400 manual resources are deployed."
This dismantling is being done on November 19 and November 20.
"Central Railway Mumbai Division will operate special traffic and power blocks on 19/20.11.2022 involving UP & DN Local Lines, UP & DN Fast Lines and UP & DN Harbour Lines between CSMT-MASJID Station at KM 0/1-2 for dismantling of Carnac Road Over Bridge using Road crane," the Central Railways said in an official statement.
As an aftermath of this blockade, the up-and-down train services from Vadala Road to CSMT will not run along with the up-and-down Slow and Fast lines of Byculla to CSMT. (ANI)
