MP: Two dead, two injured as wall collapses due to heavy rain in Ujjain

Two persons, including a woman, died, and two others were injured after a wall collapsed due to heavy rain in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain on Friday.

Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 27 (ANI): Two persons, including a woman, died, and two others were injured after a wall collapsed due to heavy rain in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain on Friday, officials said.
The incident occurred near Maharajwada School, located in front of Gate No. 4 of Mahakaleshwar Temple, around 6:00 pm.
Upon receiving information about the incident, police, the State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF), and home guard teams arrived at the scene to conduct rescue operations.
The deceased have been identified as Farheen (22) and Ajay Yogi (27). The injured individuals are Sharda Bai (40) and a three-year-old girl.
Collector Neeraj Kumar Singh told ANI, "A wall near Maharajwada collapsed due to heavy rain in the district on Friday evening, trapping four people. All were rescued and sent to the district hospital. Unfortunately, two individuals, including a woman, have died, while two others have been injured and referred to Indore for further treatment."
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed deep sorrow over the incident and announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured.
In a post on X, CM Yadav wrote, "A very sad incident has happened in Ujjain where two local people died due to wall collapse near Maharajwada School. Senior officers have been instructed to ensure proper treatment to the injured. May Baba Mahakal give place to departed souls at His lotus feet and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this immense loss."
"On behalf of the Madhya Pradesh government, instructions have been given to give financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured. I express my condolences to the bereaved families in this hour of grief," he further wrote. (ANI)
