Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], July 30 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee has suspended two of its party leaders citing 'indiscipline' for welcoming state cabinet minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kailash Vijayvargiya at their party office in Indore.
Congress leaders Sadashiv Yadav, Congress District President and Surjit Singh Chaddha, City Congress President were suspended and notices, dated July 20, were also served to them seeking a reply from them in seven days.
The notice reads, "A person who murdered democratic values in the city of Maa Ahilya and shamed Indore in the country and abroad by taking away the right to vote from the people of Indore, which was condemned by the people of Indore as well; welcoming him in District Congress Committee Gandhi Bhavan (Congress office of Indore) fall under the category of indiscipline. You should submit your reply within seven days and till then, you will remain suspended."
On the other hand, Madhya Pradesh Congress leader Mukesh Nayak told ANI, "Kailash Vijayvargiya is a leader who made our official candidate for Lok Sabha elections sit in his vehicle and took him to withdraw his candidature. The timing of this conspiracy was such that we could not come up with an alternative. What is the use of welcoming those, who murder democracy, to Congress office? This is indiscipline."
"We are not against extending courtesy but if they want to do that, call him to their own home and offer him tea. Congress office is not the appropriate place to do this. They have been suspended from their post, further action will be taken on the basis of what reply they give. Their reply is awaited," Nayak further said.
Speaking to ANI over the phone, Sadashiv Yadav said, "I have submitted my reply to the party in view of the notice but I have yet not received any further response from the party in this regard."
Notably, state cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya had met them at the party office to invite them for the mega plantation drive that took place in the city on July 12. (ANI)
