MP: Three held following encounter with police in Gwalior

The encounter occurred near Kheriya Mirdha village under the jurisdiction of Behta police outpost, Maharajpura police station limits in the district at around 5 in the morning.

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 24 (ANI): Three persons, who were involved in looting a businessman in Gwalior last night, were arrested following a short encounter with police in the district on Tuesday early morning, an officer said.
The encounter occurred near Kheriya Mirdha village under the jurisdiction of Behta police outpost, Maharajpura police station limits in the district at around 5 am on Tuesday. Prime accused identified as Arun Chouhan sustained bullet wound in his left leg and undergoing treatment at Jaya Arogya Hospital (JAH) in the district, the police said.

The remaining two accused have been identified as Pramod Tomar and Chhotu Jatav. All the accused have previous criminal records like robbery, murder, and attempt to murder.
On Monday night, the accused allegedly looted a jewellery businessman and run away with a bag having gold and cash after opening firing upon him. The incident occurred when he was leaving from his shop in Kushwah Market under Maharajpura police station. The entire incident was captured in the CCTV camera installed near the shop.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Rakesh Kumar Sagar told ANI, "An incident of loot with a businessman occurred under Maharajpura police station on Monday night after opening firing on him. Follwoing which, our crime branch and the police station in-charge's team were searching for the accused. Based on the information of the informer, the team reached near Kheriya Mirdha village and during this, an accused fired at the police. The police retaliated in which prime accused Arun Chauhan got injured."
He has been admitted to Jaya Arogya Hospital and the remaining two accused, Pramod Tomar and Chhotu Jatav who were trying to escape were also arrested. The police also recovered the victim's bag with gold and the cash amount, he said.
"A reward of Rs 10,000 was also announced on the arrest of the accused and our police team successfully conducted an encounter in which these three have been arrested. All these accused have previous criminal records of serious crimes of loot, murder and attempt to murders. They have committed crimes in Bhind, Morena, Datia and Gwalior districts. The police also confiscated the bike used in crime, the pistol and bullets from them," the officer said.
The accused are being interrogated and no policeman was injured in the encounter. Complainant Chahat Soni who sustained bullet wound during loot is also undergoing treatment and is out of danger. Further investigation into the matter is underway, he added. (ANI)
