MP: Special CBI court sentences 2 persons to 5 years of imprisonment in Vyapam case

The special court of Sanjay Kumar Gupta convicted one Vasudev Pathak under IPC sections 120B, 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 and section 3/4 of Madhya Pradesh Recognised Education (MPRE) act. While another Harendra Singh was convicted under IPC sections 419 r/w 120-B, 420 r/w 120-B, 467 r/w 120-B, 468 r/w 120-B, 471 r/w 120-B and section 3/4 of MPRE act.

Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 6 (ANI): A special CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) court in Indore on Wednesday convicted two accused with a maximum five years of imprisonment in a Vyapam case (now known as Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB)).
The special court of Sanjay Kumar Gupta convicted one Vasudev Pathak under IPC sections 120B, 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 and section 3/4 of Madhya Pradesh Recognised Education (MPRE) act. While another Harendra Singh was convicted under IPC sections 419 r/w 120-B, 420 r/w 120-B, 467 r/w 120-B, 468 r/w 120-B, 471 r/w 120-B and section 3/4 of MPRE act. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 14,000 and Rs 12,000 respectively.

Giving details about the matter, CBI special public prosecutor Ranjan Sharma told ANI, “During the police constable recruitment exam held in Shajapur in 2013, the accused Vasudev Pathak was caught taking examination in place of the accused Harendra Singh. The Shajapur police had filed a case against both the accused and presented the charge sheet before the court.”
According to the order of the Supreme Court, the matter reached the CBI and after further investigation, the CBI got 30 people to testify before the court, Sharma said.
On Wednesday, Special Judge CBI Sanjay Kumar Gupta found both the accused guilty and sentenced them to a maximum of five years of imprisonment. Both the accused are residents of Mathura in Uttar Pradesh and they have been sent to jail, he added. (ANI)
