MP: Police performs traditional 'Shastra Puja' on Vijayadashami in Bhopal

Bhopal Commissioner of Police (CP) Harinarayan Chari Mishra also extended greetings to everyone on the occasion of Vijayadashami and shared information about the Shastra Puja.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 24 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Police performed the traditional 'Shastra Puja' (weapon worship) on the occasion of Vijayadashami at police lines in the state capital Bhopal on Tuesday.
After the worship, the police officials also performed celebratory firing on the occasion.
Bhopal Commissioner of Police (CP) Harinarayan Chari Mishra also extended greetings to everyone on the occasion of Vijayadashami and shared information about the Shastra Puja.
"Today, the traditional Shastra Puja was performed at police lines here. Generally, we know that this festival is celebrated as the victory of good over evil. So, this occasion becomes very important for the police. Especially when the police worship weapons, they take a pledge that these weapons should always be used against criminals, anti-social elements and to protect the people who believe in the law," Mishra said.
When asked about the arrangement for the procession to be taken out in the city for the immersion of idols, the officer said that the police officers visited the routes, necessary forces were deployed on those routes and complete arrangements were ensured.
On the other hand, Shastra puja was performed at Police lines in Chhatarpur district as well. The official performed the puja and after that also did the celebratory firing.
Earlier MP Chief Minister offered prayers on the occasion of Vijyadashmi and wished all the resident of the state.
In his post on X Shivraj Chouhan said "On the occasion of Vijayadashmi the festival of Truth, Justice and Duty I offered prayers at my home. I prayed to the Goddess and to Shri Ram that there may be an end to evil and evil-doers, that the state and the country remain safe and secure and that everyone stays happy and content."
Vijayadashami, or Dussehra, is a prominent Hindu festival celebrated every year at the end of Navaratri.
It is observed on the tenth day of the month of Ashvin, the seventh in the Hindu Luni-Solar Calendar. The festival typically falls in the Gregorian calendar months of September and October.
The festival of Vijayadashami is celebrated almost in every part of the country and the defeat of good over evil symbolised by the defeat of Ravana by Lord Rama.
The festival also starts the preparations for Diwali, the important festival of lights, which is celebrated twenty days after Vijayadashami. (ANI)
