Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 28 (ANI): A National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) member Dr Divya Gupta on Thursday reached MTH Hospital in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore to inquire about the health of Ujjain minor rape survivor.
During this, Gupta also discussed with the doctors and police about the conditions and statements of the victim, who is undergoing treatment at MTH Hospital in the city.
The NCPCR member Gupta told ANI, “After hearing the incident that happened with the girl, I got goosebumps. It is an incident that brings shame to the society. I have watched the condition of the child where she is undergoing treatment, MTH Hospital. Over 48 hours have passed and she is recovering well. Today, she has also drunk coconut water.”
The suspects in the incident have been detained by Ujjain Police and are being questioned. The parents of the victim have also been traced and they are also being called, she said.
“The way Congress is doing politics in this matter, I am surprised by their (Congress) mental state. Instead of pointing fingers at and condemning such people (Criminal minded) in the society, it is a bad mentality of Congress to point fingers at the government and the administration,” Gupta said.
Police and a counsellor are with the girl. Police said that the victim only wanted to recover and avoided talking about that incident. The girl was recovering and better medically but she was emotionally still in trauma and it would take time to heal, the NCPCR member added.
Meanwhile, talking about the accused Dr Gupta said, “I have no words for the kind of brutality that has happened to this girl. Now, the society will have to decide what should be done with such criminals. We and the fast track court know very well what punishment should be given to such accused but now society has to stand.” (ANI)
