MP govt's "bulldozer" action against illegal meat sale is part of PM Modi's crime-free India pledge: Union Minister

Supporting the "bulldozer" action of the newly elected BJP government in Madhya Pradesh against the "illegal" sale of meat in the state, Union Minister Kaushal Kishore said on Friday that the action is in furtherance of the pledge taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of a crime-free India and in keeping in mind the health of the people.

Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], December 15 (ANI): Supporting the "bulldozer" action of the newly elected BJP government in Madhya Pradesh against the "illegal" sale of meat in the state, Union Minister Kaushal Kishore said on Friday that the action is in furtherance of the pledge taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of a crime-free India and in keeping in mind the health of the people.
"Anyone who commits a crime is a criminal. BJP governments in all states strive to punish and try criminals owing to the pledge taken by PM Modi of a crime-free India," Kaushal Kishore said while talking to ANI here.
"Even fruits sold in the open tend to develop bacteria. This decision has been taken keeping people's health in mind," he added.
Meanwhile, Ujjain Municipal Corporation in Madhya Pradesh demolished meat shops running without permission in the city on the instructions of the state government on Thursday, an official said.
The action was taken in the Nagziri area of the city and the team also confiscated the materials of the shop.
"On the instruction of the state government, Ujjain Municipal Corporation took strict action against the meat shop running without permission in the Nagziri area of the city on Wednesday. The teams are also engaged in taking action in other regions of the city. The team also made the announcements for the same in the entire city," said Radheshyam Mandloi, Additional Commissioner of Ujjain Municipal Corporation.
The officer further said that action was taken against around 10 shops that were selling meat in the open and a few shops situated on the roadside were also demolished by the corporation. The corporation also confiscated the materials from the spot.
Meanwhile, a team of officials made the shopkeepers of the meat shops alert and gave them warnings in the Topkhana area and Begum Bagh area near Mahakaleshwar Temple in the city. (ANI)
