Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 7 (ANI): A case has been registered against the owners of a factory in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, from which MD (Methylenedioxymethamphetamine) drugs worth Rs 1,814 crore were seized, officials said on Monday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Sanjay Kumar Agarwal said that a notification was issued by the Bhopal Commissioner of Police (CP) requiring property owners to submit information about domestic servants and tenants to their local police station in a prescribed format. Failure to comply would result in legal action.
"In this recent case, the owner of the building where the factory was operating failed to provide this information to the local police and facilitated wrongdoing. Therefore, we have taken action," Agarwal told ANI.
An FIR has been filed at Katara Hills police station against Jaideep Singh, the factory owner, and SK Singh, who rented the property. SK Singh has been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend Jaideep Singh.
"Nonetheless, it remains to be investigated how involved these two were and whether they were aware of the operations in the factory. The probe is underway, and further action will be taken accordingly," Agarwal added.
According to police, the building belongs to Jaideep Singh, who initially rented it to SK Singh, following legal procedures. However, SK Singh subsequently rented it to another person, Amit Chaturvedi, without any legal formalities.
Meanwhile, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), in coordination with Mandsaur police, arrested a suspect named Harish Anjna from Mandsaur district on Monday in connection with the drug seizure in Bhopal.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) for the Ratlam Range, Manoj Kumar Singh, said, "Harish Anjna has been arrested from Mandsaur district in connection with the drug seizure in Bhopal. Mandsaur police have previously taken action against Anjna, who has been involved in Doda Chura (poppy husk) and violations of the NDPS Act. The Gujarat ATS contacted Mandsaur police for assistance, leading to Anjna's arrest. He has been handed over to Gujarat ATS for further action."

"During questioning, Anjna reveale that the chemicals used to produce the drugs seized in Bhopal were sourced from Vapi in Gujarat, and the equipment used for their production was transported from Gujarat and Maharashtra. Further investigation is underway," Singh added.
Earlier on Sunday, the Gujarat ATS confiscated drugs and raw materials valued at Rs 1,814 crore from the factory and apprehended two persons. They have been identified as Amit Chaturvedi, a Bhopal resident, and Sanyal Bane, a resident of Nashik.
