MP: Elderly villager attacked by tiger in Umaria dies

The incident occurred in Bamera village of Pataur range of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve (BTR) in the district on Tuesday night. The tiger attacked the old man in his house. The elderly person was identified as Kamma Yadav (around 60).

Umaria (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 20 (ANI): An elderly villager died after a tiger attacked him in Madhya Pradesh’s Umaria district, an official said on Wednesday.
The incident occurred in Bamera village of Pataur range of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve (BTR) in the district on Tuesday night. The tiger attacked the old man in his house. The elderly person was identified as Kamma Yadav (around 60).
When the BTR management received information about the incident, they reached the spot and took him to the district hospital in critical condition. After first aid in the district hospital, he was referred to Jabalpur but in the way the injured old man died.
“A tiger injured the old man in the village and as soon as I received the information, I took the injured to the district hospital. And after primary treatment and first aid, the doctors referred him to Jabalpur for further treatment. On the way to Jabalpur, the old man died,” said Arpit Mairal, Range Officer Pataur.
The BTR management is standing with the family and further action into the matter will be taken according to the rules, he added.
According to the information, on Tuesday late evening, the tiger was hunting the cattle of the old man and during this, the cattle started shouting. After hearing the sound of the cattle, the elderly person came out to see and due to the darkness outside the house nothing was clearly visible. In the meantime, the tiger attacked the elderly villager in which he got seriously injured. (ANI)
