MP: Court awards life imprisonment to 30-year-old man for kidnapping minor girl

Additional Session Judge Tripti Pandey convicted the accused, Rahul Mehra, under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 364A and also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], December 21 (ANI): A special POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) court in Bhopal on Thursday sentenced a 30-year-old man to life imprisonment for abducting a five-year-old.
Additional Session Judge Tripti Pandey convicted the accused, Rahul Mehra, under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 364A and also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000.
The case was registered by the mother of the girl and was investigated by the police.
Giving information about the case, district court PRO (Public Relations Officer), Manoj Tripathi said, "Mother of the minor girl lodged a missing complaint at Bairagarh Police station on November 15, 2021. Acting on it, the police registered a case and started an investigation. During the probe, the footage of the cameras installed in the house was checked, and the accused was seen taking the minor with him in a car."
Mehra demanded a ransom of Rs 50,000 for the girl's release and had given an account number to the victim's family. He also received Rs 10,000 in the account and demanded the remaining amount.
"The accused Mehra had demanded a ransom of Rs 50,000 for the release of the minor and had given an account number to the family of the victim. He had also received Rs 10,000 in that account and was demanding the remaining amount. The accused had withdrawn Rs 2500 from an ATM near the DIJ Bungalow, Bhopal and gave it to the driver of the vehicle in which he was moving with the girl," Tripathi said.
The police reached there, rescued the girl and arrested the accused near Alpana Talkies, he added.
The accused was found guilty based on the statements of the driver, the mother of the minor, the bank statement, and other evidence.
"During the trial of the case, Judge Pandey found the accused guilty on the basis of the statement of the driver, the mother of the minor, bank statement, and other evidence. Following which, the judge sentenced the accused to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000," the PRO added. (ANI)
