MP: Continuous rains in Ujjain lead to increase in Shipra river water level

The river water has also entered into several temples located on the banks of the Shipra River

Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 28 (India): Continuous rain in the Madhya Pradesh led to an increase in the water levels at Shipra River here on Saturday.
The river water has also entered into several temples located on the banks of the Shipra River
With Shraddha Paksha ongoing, several devotees from outskirts come here to offer Pind Daan however, due to the increasing water levels, the devotees at the Ramghat are forced to sit on the banks of the river and offer Tarpan.

A pandit at one of the temples said that the Ram Ghat had submerged due to the excessive rain.
"There has been continuous rain since yesterday and due to this the Ram Ghat has submerged. People have come here for Ekadashi and to offer Pind Daan that's why it is crowded today. The Home Guards are present here for the safety of the people," the pandit said.
'There has been continuous rain here since the last two days. The SDRF team has been continuing their duty to rescue people in case of any emergency," said Naveen, an SDRF official.
Additionally, IMD has predicted an alert for heavy rain in the state.
State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Home Guards have also been deployed at the Ghats for the safety of the devotees.
On Friday, two persons died and two others were injured after a wall collapsed in Ujjain due to the heavy rains in the state.
The incident occurred near Maharajwada School, located in front of Gate No. 4 of Mahakaleshwar Temple, around 6:00 pm.
Upon receiving information about the incident, police, the State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF), and home guard teams arrived at the scene to conduct rescue operations.
The deceased have been identified as Farheen (22) and Ajay Yogi (27). The injured individuals are Sharda Bai (40) and a three-year-old girl.
Collector Neeraj Kumar Singh told ANI, "A wall near Maharajwada collapsed due to heavy rain in the district on Friday evening, trapping four people. All were rescued and sent to the district hospital. Unfortunately, two individuals, including a woman, have died, while two others have been injured and referred to Indore for further treatment."
