MP: CM Yadav to exempt municipal corporation tax for local vendors of diwali items to promote vocal for local

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 29 (ANI): In a Diwali bonanza to promote Vocal for Local, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday announced to exempt all kind of municipal corporation taxes from vendors selling diya, idols and other diwali items in small shops or as hawkers to promote vocal for local in the state.
CM Yadav further said that the exemption from the taxes would be effective from today till Dev Uthani Gyaras 2024. Along with this, the Chief Minister also bought the idol of Lakshmi Ganesh on the occasion of Dhanteras in the state capital Bhopal in order to promote the vocal for locals.
"Everyone should celebrate the festival of Diwali with pomp and show. When we talk about Vocal for Local, in such a situation, our small hawkers, small shopkeepers on the occasion of Deepawali come to earn their livelihood, to earn some money and to sell their goods. It is a very short term business and in such a situation, the government should be seen standing with them. Implementing this decision, we have decided that from today till Dev Uthani Gyaras, all the people selling goods-diyas, or whatever other small thing on road sides, will be exempted from all the taxes of municipal corporations," CM Yadav told reporters.
"Everyone of us should celebrate Deepavali with joy and keeping in mind the fact that to promote Vocal for Local, I have announced that no taxes would be collected from them," he added.
The Chief Minister also extended greetings to all the citizens of the state for the Diwali festival.
Diwali 2024 will be celebrated on October 31st, marking one of the most significant festivals in India and around the world. This vibrant festival, known as the Festival of Lights, signifies the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. As families prepare for the festivities, homes will be adorned with colourful rangoli patterns, illuminated with diyas and fairy lights.
The celebrations typically involve performing prayers to Goddess Lakshmi for prosperity, sharing delicious sweets and snacks, and exchanging gifts with loved ones. Fireworks will light up the night sky, creating a dazzling display that adds to the joyful atmosphere.
