MP CM Yadav announces paddy crop to be covered under Bhavantar Scheme

Seoni (Madhya Pradesh) [India], July 2 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday announced that paddy crops will be brought under the state's Bhavantar Scheme, under which farmers will receive compensation for the gap between the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and the market price.
The announcement was made while addressing the State-level Paddy Festival in Seoni district, where the Chief Minister said the welfare and prosperity of farmers remained the government's top priority.
"Farmers are not merely food producers but the true custodians of the earth, nurturing and sustaining society through their tireless hard work. The prosperity of farmers is the foremost commitment of the State Government, as the progress of the state and the nation depends on the well-being of its farming community," CM Yadav said.
He noted that the traditional paddy variety has received a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, marking global recognition for the state's indigenous and traditional agricultural heritage.
Making a major announcement for paddy growers, CM Yadav said, "The Bhavantar Scheme will now be extended to paddy crops. Under the scheme, the State Government will compensate farmers for the difference between the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and the market price."
He further announced that works under the Viksit Bharat Ji-Ram-Ji Yojana, the new version of MGNREGA, would continue uninterrupted to ensure employment opportunities and support for the farming community.
During the programme, the Chief Minister also transferred a bonus of Rs 2.84 crore to the bank accounts of 3,941 Kodo-Kutki (millet) growers under the Rani Durgavati Shri Anna Protsahan Yojana at the rate of Rs 1,000 per quintal. He also transferred Rs 365 crore as financial assistance to the accounts of over 16,754 labourer families under the Chief Minister Jan Kalyan (Sambal) 2.0 Scheme.

Along with this, he further inaugurated and performed the bhoomi poojan for 629 development projects worth Rs 494.16 crore in Seoni district. The projects included the inauguration of 586 works worth Rs 349.33 crore and the laying of the foundation for 43 projects valued at Rs 144.83 crore.
The Chief Minister also announced the construction of a four-lane highway between Balaghat and Seoni, a Government College at Chamari village in Chhapara block, a paved road connecting Sagar village to Khatkar, the development of a Nagar Van (Urban Forest) at Chhidiya Palari village and one mini stadium in each Assembly constituency of Seoni district.
Urging farmers to diversify their income sources, CM Yadav encouraged them to adopt low-water, high-yield crops along with animal husbandry and fisheries instead of depending solely on traditional farming. He assured farmers that the State Government stands firmly with them at every step.

Before addressing the programme, the Chief Minister inaugurated the State-level Paddy Festival by transplanting paddy seedlings in a farmer's field in Seoni. He later interacted with farmers, shared a traditional meal offered by a farmer and planted a mango sapling on the field bund. (ANI)
